Week 19 – West cladding & cladding prep

08/11/21 – 12/11/21

Monday – 08/11/21

West elevation cladding continues…

Tuesday – 09/11/21

Cladding prep of thinner boards for above and below the windows.
More West elevation cladding, all full height boards were put up and some windows boards still to go up but good progress overall.
Full height cladding boards put up each side of every window. The thinner cladding boards above and below the windows could be done by one person, so the full boards were put up to set out the spacing and allow one person to work on it.

Wednesday – 10/11/21

Cladding prep: cut to size 340 boards. We have to cut the chamfer at some point before next week.

Thursday – 11/11/21

Put up half width cladding boards above and below the window. Made a jig to place over top cladding boards to push boards up against it to speed up process and accuracy of height.
Began the third stage of cladding prep, chamfering boards with 30 degrees.

Friday – 12/11/21

Finished the full height cladding board prep.
Made more half width cladding boards for the rest of the windows.

A note from Studio Bark

No Building As Usual is an ambitious student build project running for 10 weeks over the summer of 2021. The programme addresses the climate emergency, diversity in the built environment professions, and the need for cross-industry collaboration.
