Woodland Folly

We spent last weekend in the Worcestershire countryside attaching batons and counter batons to the Woodland Folly. The round-wood structure and cantilevering platform were designed and erected by a brilliant team of UEL architecture students at the end of last summer, as part of UEL’s 2018 Construction Week. See the ‘related news’ section on the left for more info. We have begun cladding the structure with the red-oak ‘shakes’ that we hand cut back in October, but there will be lots more shake making this summer before the folly is watertight. We’ve just polished off a big lunch of wild garlic pasta pesto, courtesy of the woods, and are now looking forward to our next visit…
