During the next couple of weeks Studio Bark will be hosting a group of masters students from the University of East London (UEL) as part of the school of architecture‘s annual construction week. The ambitious project is based in a beautiful woodland setting in Worcestershire and is focused on low-impact, low-energy design.
Unlike previous years, we’ve decided to keep the brief very open, inviting the students to form their own site-specific designs. The group spent last weekend getting to know the site and having an introduction to sustainable woodland management and tree felling techniques. The chosen proposition (or multiple propositions) will be constructed using the felled trees and a mobile saw mill will be on site to prepare the timbers.
Next week the Studio Bark and the student team will be camping on site and living off-grid during the four day build. It promises to be a very educational and fun few days – we look forward to seeing the results in the coming weeks!
