The latest residents of the Grow Bar’s Eco Pod are artists and musicians Pete Bennett & Joel Smith better known as The LAB. Working in diverse fields (painting, sculpture, writing, music) the LAB will really put the flexibility of U-Build to the test – we look forward to their feedback!
As part of their range of work, the pair will be producing a ten part community radio show/sound archive of the area. They wasted no time transforming the space into a local radio station, Wick Radio, which is now on air and available to listen.
We went along to the last Wick Wednesday to see the radio station in action, meet the artists and listen to some live music in the Grow Bar, all part of a hard day’s work.
The Pod started life as a temporary community space, then became Studio Bark’s site hut for a summer. At the end of last year it was moved to it’s new home at Grow Bar, where it’s host to a series of artist residencies. More information about the residency programme and Grow Bar can be found here.
