The Grain House in Sussex has now been submitted for full planning permission following positive feedback from the South East Design Review Panel.
The client approached us last year with a beautiful sloping plot overlooking the South Downs Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty to design a new multi-generational family home. The brief required a bold and innovative piece of architecture driven by the site’s unique heritage.
A series of strong east – west walls delineate the living spaces and tie the architecture to the historic agricultural land forms of the site – once part of a medieval glebe.
Flooded with daylight and with a central external courtyard, the main living zone can be opened up to the landscape, from where breath-taking southwesterly views can be enjoyed.
