Cladding commences

Our western red cedar planks that we processed locally a fortnight ago are now being fixed on to the building with 15mm spacings (80mm boards), using stainless steel ring shank nails and fantastic nail guns supplied by Young Black.

All the boards are detailed to ensure there are always substantial ventilation gaps with no chance of standing water.

All our window heads and sills have been set out to ensure there are no cut boards. This has taken some careful measuring and mathematics with help from part I architecture students from UEL.

Thanks to Trada for the technical advice on spacings and fixings and forestry commission for all the info about timber growing and markets!

Ps. the lovely windows you see in the picture are Internorm (triple glazed) Home Pure supplied and fitted by Frames Direct.
